My Life In Short

  1. PLEASE NOTE

    07/07/08 09:25:19 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

I am going to be more scarce than normal for a couple of weeks. I do have Thursday and Friday off but I am not sure whether I am going to be online that much.
  2. YAY!

    05/31/08 10:45:09 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

Where has this year gone? It seems like only yesterday I was coming back off my Christmas holiday in Germany and being all excited about the year and now it is suddenly the middle of the year!

I was really pleased with work today. I was told that I was getting £750 in bonus this month and we worked out I should be getting about £1000 next month... That is nearly twice my normal salary so drinks are on me. Also I got some good applications out the door that means more bonus and stuff like that as well.

The nice thing about all of that means that I am generally happier and much more like myself... even if I was ill last week. That means that I am more in the mood to post and will try and make more time. Not great this week as I am working late all week (good for my bonus but not good for having time online!). However I do have Wednesday off and also next week so much more time to play around which I love!

I really need to get organised with some stuff for this year. I always said I was going to book my driving lessons and also get the test done as well so need to get organised. I also want to try and get my banking exams sorted so I can work towards becoming a mortgage advisor and not just a seller which means more money again!

I also managed to get trains booked for this summer. I am going down to Brighton in July, just after my birthday, as it is my brothers graduation and I want to see my parents as well. I am also off work the week after so might book a short break as well within the UK. Not sure yet!
  3. Manic Week

    04/04/08 05:06:00 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

This is going be one manic week! I knew about some of this before I went on holiday but then you come and and things are thrown at you! LOL

First - yesterday I was working until 4pm but I had to stay until 5pm to go a meeting about what is happening the housing market and what the business is doing to combat this. Fine, but I have just had two weeks off, the time changed Sunday and I had to be at work at 8am! Lovely.

Then I have to work late tonight which is never fun but at least you get plenty of calls and work to do after 5pm when everyone goes home.

Tomorrow and Thursday I am being roped into helping another department. I am going to have input the applications once they come back to us which is basically sitting keying all day. Boring but at least I will have plenty to do and the day should go quickly. 2 days notice is not great for anyone though!

Friday I have a day off but I have work all weekend in return. I should have some time to post on Friday but working at the weekend cuts into my board times which I really hate. I have to work all of the weekend after as well...

Back to the sporadic posting! LOL!
  4. Easter Holidays

    03/29/08 11:21:05 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

As most of you are aware, I have been on holiday from work for the past two weeks - well, how else do you explain the massive amount of posting I have been able to do!

Anyway, I go back to work on Monday so my posting will become somewhat more sporadic again. I will try and get on most days even if it is a just for an hour and I focus on my main boards (Yukupolis, Love Pain And The Whole Crazy Thing and Queeny's). That doesn't mean that I don't care about the other boards, but that I just physically don't have the time or energy to post elsewhere. That is mainly when I am working late - I don't get home until 9pm so I need time to eat and then don't feel like posting after that.
  5. Changes

    02/21/08 07:11:14 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

I was getting sick of having a controversial avatar and sig so I decided to change it to something that shouldn't offend too much... However don't worry if you liked the ones I had before, I will be changing back to something more daring at some point! I never liked being boring and I like to be controversial when I think something needs to be said! LOL!
  6. Stressed

    02/03/08 06:51:12 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

As I have said, work has been really stressful at the moment. There are so many reasons why:

    1. January and the beginning of the year is always a very busy time as people come back from Christmas and realise they need to re-finance because they want more money for next year and people do move as well.

    2. The financial situation in the UK is not that great because of the problems with Northern Rock. In case you hadn't heard, they basically went bankrupt which means that the customers who save with them have lost out on their money. That has also had a bad effect on the general financial markets and does effect mortgages to some extent as well. This is not helped by the crisis with housing in the US and also the fact that teh stocks and shares had a bad day on Monday with losing £80 billion. That makes selling mortgages much harder because people are more worried about changing things.
    About the credit crunch: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/business/2007/creditcrunch/default.stm

    3. As a sales team, we are under a lot of pressure to perform well in the mortgage market. We have some very high targets for this year and because the spending on the advertising was low at the end of last year, we don't have much to fall back on. However the senior managers and the commercial managers are generally congratulating us everytime we do well.

    4. We don't really have enough sales staff for the calls coming in. That should be better next month when everyone is trained on all the brands we sell. Also we have some new staff joining in March which will help as well. That then means that there is plenty of overtime (good for money and bonuses in general) which means work longer hours and more days.

All in all that means that I will be earning a lot of money, but that I will be very tired after long days. That in turn means that I haven't got the energy to come on here and post... That also could mean me being in a bad mood which doesnt' help my posting habits either.

I have tried to help things by cutting down to 4 boards - my own, Queeny's Obsessions, Love Pain and The Whole Crazy Thing (Nabeela's) and Yukupolis. Hoepfully I should have more time to post on these boards and also will be able to say more as well! Also, I feel less guilty about not posting one day if I have less boards to worry about and even if I have less time to post, I can prioritise things!

  7. Profile Changes

    02/03/08 06:50:10 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

I have decided to disable comments on my profile as I never have time to reply to them. This doesn't mean that I don't appreciate what people have said and the kudos I have got but just that I never have time to post anything in reply.
  8. Board Update

    01/04/08 08:29:04 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

I am hoping to officially open the board this weekend (January 5th/6th). I appreciate that people have been posting here for about 3 weeks but that means I have more people to start the board with. The official opening just simply means that I will be doing more active advertising and will have a few more incentives for people to post.

The first thing that I need to organise is a theme/design for the board. I do have a few ideas, but if anyone wants to suggest anything then please post in this thread. I do not want to have anything that could be classed as offensive (in terms of images or text) on the board and I also try to avoid holidays that could be defined as religious as not everyone here celebrates Christian events. Thanks. The new theme should be up by the end of this weekend.

Next week, we are going to be having a Post-A-Thon. This will not only mean that there will be more threads to post in, but will also look like the board is active and busy. This in turn means that we should be getting more posters to make the board even busier. I am sure, most of you know what a Post-A-Thon is but if you are unaware, it means that the winner is the post who posts the most threads in a certain time frame. For more details and to sign up, please click here.

The final thing that I am going to start now is to arrange a chats. I would like to have one this weekend and then arrange a weekly (or bi-weekly) one so that we can talk about things that may not be discussed on the board. Please click on this thread to discuss dates and times. Thanks.

I have started a thread asking for more staff. I would like to have a couple more admins and also moderators for most forums as well. This means that if I am busy at work and I don't have as much time to post, then there is someone about who can act in a crisis. If you would like to join the staff, then please PM me.

Thank you very much for posting here and giving the board a great start. I am sure that it will continue to develop and change as well.

    NEW THEME HAS BEEN POSTED.
  9. Back Again

    01/04/08 04:57:44 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

Some of you may have read bits of this update as I have been posting on the boards from time to time. However I thought it best to keep everything in one place so everyone knows how my Christmas and New Years was. (I am also updating this on a daily basis on my own computer and then will post the whole thing when I get back.)

The travelling back by train went smoother than I thought it would. I had to change in lot of places so there was always a chance I might miss a connection. However all trains were on time (within about 5 minutes!) so nothing went too wrong. I got the train first thing on the 17th from Norwich to London where I caught the Eurostar to Brussels. After that it was fast trains to Cologne and then Frankfurt. The only slow bit was the local train back to the little town I grew up in which is half an hour north of Frankfurt on the train. Mum then met me at the station and drove me back to the house. The whole thing took about 12 hours so I was exhausted when I got back here as you can imagine! However I think it works just as easily as flying because there is less hassle with passports and other such things. I am not sure whether I would do it on a regular basis though... I might stick to flights as they are slightly quicker and somewhat cheaper as well.

Not done that much but my parents were telling me that they are looking to get wireless for the house so next time I may be able to get on with my laptop and that then means I can post more and also be on later at night. I can't at the moment as the computer is in their room so after about 8pm, I will have no luck trying to get on! I will be going shopping later this week for some stuff for presents and also myself with clothes and other things like that.

Christmas Day was a very traditional day in our household. It started really with Christmas Eve when we always have a smoked fish dinner with smoked salmon and other such things. After that we put the presents under the tree and also got the stockings organised for my parents to fill up.

We are always up earlish for Christmas Day - about 8am and we have a look at our stockings. Mainly they are useful things like socks and underwear but they also got us some calandars, chocolate Father Christmas and coins as well as a piece of the Berlin Wall. After a quick breakfast, we opened our presents. Personally I received Season 7 of Star Trek The Next Generation (I need to get Season 6 when I am back in the UK), a purse and then money as well. One of the traditions is that we always get a board game as a family that we play after lunch. Lunch itself was roast vension, Klosschen (potato), roast parsnips, red cabbage and roast chestnuts. We also had a Christmas pudding for desert. Between the courses, we also pull crackers and read out the jokes.

The game we got this year was Thurn and Taxis which is based on the original mail routes in the middle of Europe. You are trying to build up post routes through Germany (and surrounding areas) by connecting towns. There are various points for long routes and also having a prescence in all towns within a state/county/area of the country. We played it after lunch on Christmas Day and have played various other times as well.
  10. CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

    12/16/07 04:20:03 | 0 Any Profound Thoughts?

This is probably fairly common knowledge by now but I thought I would make a formal announcement to be kind.

As you know, my parents live in Germany and I am going to be going home to see them this year for Christmas. I am leaving tomorrow at 5am and will be back late on the 2nd of January (so I may not be on until the 3rd).

Anyone who knows me from the ezBoard days knows that my parents do have internet access but it is fairly limited and slow compared to my broadbnd. I will try and check in once a week but my parents don't like me using it too much and I always feel that I should be socialable and spend time with them (and my brother) as I only see thema few times a year. That means Yuku (and all my friends on here) are not a priority. That doesn't mean I don't care but that I will be scarce for a few weeks.
